Another amazing bird! The pelican is so peculiar it seems an impossibility that it would be graceful, but they truly are. White pelicans make their way to Montana, playing on the Yellowstone and flying effortlessly wherever they go. They even play. One particular day in Yellowstone National Park, I watched a group of white pelicans fly upriver only to land and drift and turn ruthless, spinning for nearly a quarter of a mile before returning upstream to do it all over again. This beautiful depiction is of the white pelican's cousin, the brown pelican, who tends to like warmer climbs.
